Climate change is not only the most important challenge to the realization of sustainable development, but also a major threat to the future of humankind. It will have far-reaching consequences for livestock production, particularly in regions of the world that are vital for nutrition and livelihoods. These impacts will increase the vulnerability of livestock systems, while phenomena such as drought can exacerbate the effects of the stresses that will arise. In animal production, the most important effects can be listed as decreases in the quantity and quality of production, increased susceptibility to diseases and pests, changes in the reproductive cycle, losses at birth, and decline in the conversion of feed into products. This book, which we hope will be useful for everyone interested in agriculture, aims to contribute to shaping future agricultural production in a climate-friendly and sustainable manner and to open new horizons in animal production against climate change.
