Kitap Hakkında
Echo chambers have become a central concept in today's digital world, particularly in media, politics, and public opinion research. One reason this concept is so significant is the assumption that echo chambers reinforce individuals' existing views and foster a specific media consumption habit that is closed to different opinions.
This academic study, which tests the echo chamber issue on a large-scale sample in the Turkish case, critically examines this concept by bringing a critical perspective to the aforementioned generalizing approach.
The book offers a meticulous examination of the challenges associated with the measurability of the echo chamber in academic research and stands as one of the pioneering quantitative studies on the subject conducted in Türkiye. Due to the limited number of studies providing empirical academic data on Türkiye, as well as the existing gap in the literature, the international scholarship on echo chambers in the Turkish context unfortunately includes a number of reductionist analyses that also suffer from methodological and measurement-related shortcomings.
